This update represents violence in Nigeria and related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger from December 24 to December 30, 2022. 
The map depicts deaths by state. Borno State, in Nigeria's North East, is the epicenter of Boko Haram-related violence, which has also spilled into neighboring Adamawa and Yobe states, among others.

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from December 24 to December 30, 2022. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

  • December 24: Youth clashes resulted in the deaths of five in Uvwie Local Government Area (LGA) and two in Sapele LGA in Delta.  
  • December 24: Boko Haram killed seventeen in Mafa, Borno. 
  • December 24: Bandits killed two and abducted ten in Danko Wasagu, Kebbi. 
  • December 24: Kidnappers abducted four students in Akoko North-West, Ondo. 
  • December 25: Police officers killed two kidnappers in Warri, Delta. 
  • December 25: Bandits killed one and abducted forty-five in Kajuru, Kaduna. 
  • December 25: Kidnappers killed four in Lau, Taraba. 
  • December 25: Police officers killed two kidnappers in Gombi, Adamawa. 
  • December 26: Bandits abducted sixteen in Kajuru, Kaduna. 
  • December 26: Bandits killed eleven in Sabon Birni LGA, abducted fifty in Gada LGA, and killed two and abducted twenty-three in Goronyo LGA in Sokoto. 
  • December 26: Troops and hunters killed ten Boko Haram militants in Mafa, Borno. 
  • December 26: One police officer and two civilians were killed in an election-related clash in Afikpo South, Ebonyi. 
  • December 26: Suspected Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militants abducted one army officer in Okigwe, Imo.  
  • December 26: Bandits killed four in Gusau, Zamfara. 
  • December 27: Nigerian Air Force airstrikes killed “scores” (est. at forty) of Boko Haram militants in Bama, Borno. 
  • December 28: Bandits abducted three in Safana, Katsina. 
  • December 28: Gunmen bombed a police station in Ihiala, Anambra. 
  • December 28: A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member was assassinated in Oyo, Oyo.
  • December 28: Bandits killed twenty in Alkaleri, Bauchi.
  • December 29: An explosion killed four in Okene, Kogi. 
  • December 30: Over the preceding two weeks, bandits abducted sixty-three in Rafi, Niger State.
