Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from to January 16, to January 22, 2016. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.
- January 18: A suicide bomber killed himself and four others at a mosque in Nguetchewe, Cameroon. Boko Haram is suspected.
- January 18: Nigerian troops killed ten Boko Haram insurgents in Marte, Borno.
- January 18: Police killed eight pro-Biafra protestors in Aba, Abia.
- January 18: Unknown gunmen kidnapped twelve in Nembe, Bayelsa.
- January 20: Nigerian troops killed three Boko Haram insurgents in Damboa, Borno.
- January 20: Nigerian troops killed twenty Boko Haram insurgents in Marte, Borno.
- January 20: Nigerian troops repelled a Boko Haram attack, killing three insurgents in Biu, Borno.
- January 21: Nigerian troops killed eight Boko Haram insurgents in Gwoza, Borno.
- January 21: Nigerian troops killed twenty Boko Haram insurgents in Dikwa, Borno.
- January 21: Nigerian troops killed four Boko Haram insurgents in Askira/Uba, Borno.
