J. Tomilson Hill

Vice Chairman, The Blackstone Group

J. Tomilson Hill is president and chief executive officer of the Hedge Fund Solutions group and vice chairman of Blackstone, as well as a member of the board of directors of the general partner Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. Mr. Hill was elected to the board of directors of the general partner effective March 20, 2007. He also sits on the firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Hill previously served as co-head of the Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory group before assuming his role as chief executive officer of BAAM. In his current capacity, Mr. Hill is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Hedge Fund Solutions group, including investment management, client relationships, product development, marketing, operations, and administration. He is a member of the board of directors of Patria Investment Limited.

 

Before joining Blackstone in 1993, Mr. Hill began his career at First Boston, later becoming one of the co-founders of its mergers and acquisitions department. After running the mergers and acquisitions department at Smith Barney, he joined Lehman Brothers as a partner in 1982, serving as co-head and subsequently head of investment banking. Later, he served as co-chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers and co-president and co-chief operating officer of Shearson Lehman Brothers Holding Inc.

 

Mr. Hill is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he serves on the Council’s Board of Directors and is chairman emeritus of the Investment Committee. He is a member of the board of directors of Lincoln Center Theater, where he is chairman emeritus. He is also chairman emeritus of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC. He serves on the investment committee of the Smithsonian Institution. He currently serves on the board of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Telluride Foundation, the Advantage Testing Foundation, the Friends of the High Line, and of Our Lady Queen of Angels School, a parochial school (K-8th grade) in Spanish Harlem. He is a member of the advisory board of Christie’s and a member of the board of directors of First Eagle Investment Management, Hamilton Insurance Group, and Advantage Testing, Inc.
