Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from June 24 to June 30, 2017. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

  • June 23–25: An ongoing cult war killed ten people over three days in Akure, Ondo.
  • June 25: Seven Boko Haram suicide bombers killed themselves and nine others at UNIMAID and other areas in Maiduguri, Borno.
  • June 25: Chadian soldiers claimed to have killed 162 Boko Haram militants while losing 8 of their own on islands in Lake Chad bordering Nigeria (est. at Kukawa, Borno).
  • June 27: A communal clash led to the death of one police sargeant in Shongom, Gombe.
  • June 27: 5 Boko Haram suicide bombers prematurely detonated, killing themselves but no others in Maiduguri, Borno.
  • June 28: The Badoo cult killed three civilians in Ikorodu, Lagos.
  • June 28: Boko Haram killed six in Damboa, Borno.
  • June 28: Two suicide bombers killed themselves and two others at a refugee camp in Kabalewa, Niger. Boko Haram was suspected.
  • June 29: Sectarian violence led to four deaths in Oke Ero, Kwara.
  • June 29: An IED killed four soldiers in Kukawa, Borno. Boko Haram was suspected.
